". . .which way . . .?" ~ Alice Art Journal Page

I'm sharing another page from my Alice in Wonderland Art Journal today. I created this page using Twinkling H2Os by ColourArte, along with a stencil and some modelling paste, and charcoal pencil!
I created the scene using a garden path stencil by Finnabair along with some modelling paste. I painted the scene with Twinkling H2Os, matching the colours from the cut out image as best I could. To further delineate the path, I added some smudged charcoal pencil along the edges of the path and within the path itself. Here are some more photos!

I hope you enjoy seeing these pages from my Alice in Wonderland journal - they're so much fun to make. As always, thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

World's Fair Inspirational Shadowbox ~ Creative Embellishments

Today I'm sharing a shadowbox I created using Graphic 45's World's Fair collection together with some awesome Creative Embellishments Chipboard! I just love how the Wrought Iron Fence (Set 2) and the Lamp Post chipboards coordinate and help set the scene for the shadowbox.
I started out by painting the wooden shadowbox with black gesso. Then, I added a generous layer of Finnabair's White Crackle Texture Paste. Once it had dried, I used sandpaper to distress the box a bit and then inked it with Distress Ink in Black Soot to help the crackle show more. Finally, I gave the edges of the box a generous inking with the Distress Ink. All the papers and fussy-cuts are also inked with Black Soot Distress Ink. I used the World's Fair 6x6, 8x8 and 12x12 paper pads on this project, creating lots of dimension with different thicknesses of 3D foam adhesive and cardboard layers for extra dimension.
To alter the chipboard pieces, I painted them with a coat of black gesso; then, I used Finnabair's Graphite Texture Paste to create a wrought iron look on the fence and lamp post. I painted the lamp lights with a few coats of acrylic paint that matches the papers and finished them off with a generous coat of Ranger Crackle Accents. I took lots of close-ups and angled photos of the shadowbox so you can see the gorgeous texture on the chipboard pieces and all the dimension.

We're All Mad Here ~ Alice Art Journal Page

I have another page in my Alice in Wonderland Art Journal to share today! I had lots of fun creating this page using Finnabair's Mediums by Prima - 3D Gel, Black Gesso, Opal Magic Mica Powders and Soft Gloss Gel!
I started out using the Finnabair Harlequin stencil with 3D Gel Medium. Once that had dried, I painted the page with a layer of heavy black gesso. I wanted the page to have a psychedelic feel to it, so, I mixed three colours of Opal Magic Mica Powders (Green, Lilac and Gold) with Soft Gloss Gel and randomly painted the background with the colours. Finally, I watered down the Gold colour and splattered the page. I printed the image and words on my computer and fussy cut out the Cheshire Cat's teeth and cut around the words and applied them to the page using Soft Gloss Gel. Here are a few more pictures!

This is impossible. . . ~ Alice Art Journal Page

I'm on a bit of an 'Alice' kick lately and have created another page for my Alice in Wonderland Art Journal. I had lots of fun making this page - playing with paper strips, gesso, modelling paste and Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays (Afternoon Delight Denim and Rusty Lantern Lime). Even though the quote is from the 2010 movie, rather than the book, I love it and it totally fits with the Wonderland theme that 'nothing is impossible'. Here are a few shots of the page!

That's it from me and Alice today - thanks for stopping by!

Happy Valentine's Day ~ Mon Amour ATC

A quick share for today - a Valentine's Day themed ATC I made for the January/February ATC swap at Scraps of Darkness/Scraps of Elegance!
I've used the gorgeous Graphic 45 Mon Amour collection papers to make this ATC and decorated it with some white and pink paint splatters, fussy-cut flowers and cut-outs from the papers, along with some roses, clear mica flakes and fuschia glitter! Hope my ATC swap partner likes this one! Here are a couple of different angles of the ATC so you can see the layers!

Simple, Shabby-Chic, Layered Valentines

Hello Scrappy Friends! I have a few cards to show you today!  I made these for Valentine's Day for some of my son's teachers. I went into my stash of KaiserCraft papers and embellishments and used a combination of three different collections to create these shabby-chic cards. Lots of layers and distressing and a final splatter of white gesso brought these together quickly. For someone who does not consider herself a card-maker, I think they turned out beautifully!

Mon Amour Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi Scrappy Friends! Today, I'm sharing a "love" themed layout in the spirit of Valentine's day! I've used Graphic 45's Mon Amour paper collection together with the Creative Embellishments Full of Love Frame to scrapbook one of my favourite wedding photos.
I used the Creative Embellishments frame as the focal point of the layout, layering it with lots of fussy-cut flowers and cut-outs from the Graphic 45 papers.
To alter the frame, I started out with two coats of white gesso. Then I stamped and embossed with a script stamp and clear embossing powder. Finally, I painted the frame with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals in Queen of Hearts Red. Here's a close-up of a section of the frame so you can see the stamping!
And here are another couple of angles of the layout so you can see the layering!

I'm going to enter this in the Graphic 45 February Challenge #GiveLovewithGraphic45. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a fantastic Valentine's Day this year!

I knew who I was this morning . . . ~ Alice Art Journal Page

I've been playing in my Alice in Wonderland Art Journal again! Its so fun to create pages inspired by one of my favourite books! Today's page was inspired by the quote "I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then."
This colours for this page were inspired by the fun colour palette of the Lindy's Stamp Gang February Color Challenge.
I used three colours from Lindy's Stamp Gang Mad Hatter Magicals SetTweedle Dee Denim, Cheshire Cat Cherry and Curiouser Chartreuse to create the background for this layout. I started out with some watercolor paper and strips of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape. I wanted really intense colours, so I sprinkled the powdered Magicals on my large Gelli Plate and then spritzed the plate generously with water to activate the colour pigments, then I laid my watercolor page facedown on the gelli plate and ran a brayer over the back of the page to spread and blend the colours. SO pretty, isn't it? I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder in Midnight Sapphire to emboss the stamped clock images and then did some more stamping with black Archival Ink. Here are some close-ups of each side of the page and a different angled photo of the page!

Wish - Mixed Media Layout ~ Creative Embellishments February Challenge

Hi Scrappy Friends! It is February 1st, which means a new Challenge on the Creative Embellishments Blog! The challenge is as it typically is....be inspired by at least one element in the picture below and please let us know what you were inspired by in your post. The twist is white space. Do not forget to read the revised guidelines at the end of this post.
I was inspired by the circles in this month's photo and have used the Rings For So Many Things chipboard circles as a major design element in my layout. The circles were painted with a Jacquard Lumiere metallic acrylic paint in Halo Blue Gold. The title "Wish" (painted with Art Anthology Velvet Dimensional paint in Lagoon and then dry brushed with the Halo Blue Gold paint) is from the Dream Word Set - and I chose this title because my son is about to blow the fluff off the dandelion in this picture - which we always call making wishes.
I've used 13 Arts Faces of Spring papers and stickers for this layout and did some masking with a mixture of fibre paste and iridescent medium. I added some fine grit by 13 Arts in places and used 13 Arts pastel mists in turquoise and lime around the picture matting and to splatter the layout.

Here are some close-ups and different angles!
