Crazy Shaker Cards ~ Creative Embellishments

Today, I'm sharing some fun shaker cards with you! I've used Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs and Crazy Cats stamps (coloured with Copic Markers) along with Graphic 45 papers to create these cards. For the shaker part, I've used sequins and some Creative Embellishments Wood Veneers- which I left plain because I LOVE how the natural wood and laser engraving looks!
For the Crazy Dog Shaker Card, I used papers from Graphic 45's Good Ol' Sport collection and inked all the papers with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I used the Dog Gone Cute Wood Veneers in the shaker on this card. I also used two pieces from these Wood Veneers to embellish the front of the cards. I coloured the Ball using a Red Copic Marker and I added some patterned paper to the Dog Tag, outlined the tag with a Black Copic Marker and then inked it with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I thought this masculine card would be perfect for Father's Day!

For the Crazy Cat Shaker Card, I used papers from Graphic 45's Once Upon a Springtime collection and inked all the papers with Distress Ink in Antique Linen. I used the Purrfect Pieces Wood Veneers in the Shaker on this card. I thought this would be a fun card for Easter - featuring a confused Kitty who thinks he's a rabbit!
Thanks so much for popping by my blog today! Have Crazy Fun Crafting!

Rusty Patina Altered Denim Journal Cover ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there! Today I'm sharing a fun Altered Denim Journal Cover with you - created using lots of amazing Creative Embellishments chipboard!
I started off altering the Prima/Finnabair Denim journal by using a Prima Stencil along with some Prima Art Basics Heavy Body Gel mixed with Prima Art Ingredients Mica Powder in Rust. Once the stenciled areas had dried, I added some bits of lace and trim and then started adding my Creative Embellishments Chipboard pieces, as well as some metal embellishments by Prima and trinkets from my stash. I've used the following CE chipboard pieces:
Once I was happy with the placement of all the chipboard pieces and embellishments, I covered everything with a coat of Prima Art Basics Clear Gesso. Then, I sprayed the cover with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Cocoa Bean Copper. I used Prima Art Extravagance Rust Effects Paste to add the rust-look to the chipboard and then used some Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paint in Light Patina mixed with Prima Art Ingredients Texture Powder to add the green-tinted patina effect. I then dry brushed with Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paints in Light Patina and Ancient Coin in places to enhance some embellishments. Finally, I finished off the cover using some Prima Art Ingredients Copper Glass Glitter applied with Prima Art Basics Soft Matte Gel. Here are some close-ups so you can see all the details.

Nature Sketchbook Folio Cover ~ Creative Embellishments March Challenge

Its a new Month! And that means a new challenge is up on the Creative Embellishments Blog! As usual, please be inspired by at least one element in the picture below and mention how you were inspired if it isn’t obvious. The twist this month is to incorporate something that flies.
I'm really looking forward to Spring and some nicer weather, so I was inspired by the butterflies in the challenge photo to create this Nature Sketchbook Folio Cover. I'm going to have a video tutorial up soon showing how I created the insert for the inside of the folio - so be sure to watch for it!
I started out with a small Tim Holtz Folio and used Graphic 45's Nature Sketchbook collection (12x12 papers, 6x6 papers,Tags & Pockets, Decorative Chipboard, and Journaling & Ephemera Cards) to decorate the cover. I've inked all the paper edges using Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I used the CE Chipboard Flourish Butterflies Set 3, which I embossed with Ranger Black Embossing Powder and then added some patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad to the back. I also used two of the CE Flourish 19 chipboards, which I cut into pieces. I painted the flourishes with Distress Crackle Paint in Peeled Paint and then inked them with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. Here are some different angles and close-up photos of the cover:

I hope you like my interpretation of this month's challenge - I can't wait to see what you create! Remember to follow the Rules for the Challenge so that you're eligible to win!

Blog Hop ~ SpiegelMom Scraps & Creative Embellishments Product Swap!

Hello and thank you for joining us for this fabulous product swap between SpiegelMom Scraps (SMS) and Creative Embellishments (CE)! I had a great time combining the products from these two companies and hope you enjoy our inspiration! Check out my project and let me know what you think by leaving a comment. Remember, you can win a $25.00 gift card to SpiegelMom Scraps OR a $30 gift certificate to Creative Embellishments just by commenting on all the blogs in the blog hop! You have a whole week to complete the hop (until 11:59 p.m. on March 7) - so it's a pretty sweet way to win some scrappy goodies!!

Now for my project! I've created a 12x12 Family Portrait Layout. When I saw the beautiful little bag of Green Acres Sequins from the SMS shop, I decided to use them as the basis for the colour palette for my layout; so I chose some Kaisercraft papers/ephemera in coordinating colours from their Heirloom collection and a background page from their Basecoat collection to create my layout. I started to create the background using Shimmerz Pasteez in A Little Nutty from the SMS shop along with the CE Crackled Brick Stencil. Then, I did some random stamping with Memento Rich Cocoa Dye Ink and two CE rubber stamps - Tire Track 1 Stamp and Distressed Script Stamp.

I love playing with different textures on layouts, so I've used torn strips of the Kaisercraft design paper along with some torn corrugated cardboard, torn/crumpled Small Glassine Bags from the SMS shop and misted Lace Paper Doilies from the SMS shop to create the cluster behind my photos. I misted the doilies with Lindy's Stamp Gang Mists in Steampunk Sepia and Rusty Lantern Lime. I inked the edges of some of the papers and the photos with Distress Ink in Ground Espresso. I also splattered the layout with the Rusty Lantern Lime mist and some Dylusions Spray Ink in Ground Coffee.

Finally, to embellish the layout, I've used ephemera pieces from the Kaisercraft Heirloom collection, the sequins and Shooting Cork Stars from the SMS shop and two CE chipboard pieces - a Simple Key Hole Plate and Key (embossed with Distress Embossing Powder in Walnut Stain).
Here are some different angles and close-ups so you can see all the details and dimension on this layout!

Thanks so much for hopping along to my blog today! Now you’re off to Hannah’s Blog. I know you’ll just love her project!
